Exhibition Honors National Intangible Cultural Heritage Achievements

On June 13th, an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the recording project for representatives of national intangible cultural heritage was launched in Beijing. The event was attended by Rao Quan, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism and Director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration. This initiative is co-hosted by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Division of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Library, with collaboration from intangible cultural heritage protection centers across various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, as well as over 300 libraries of different types and levels.

The event includes two main components: "In the Mountains, Preserving Talent — An Exhibition of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Recordings" and "Years Go By, Skills Remain — The 7th Month of Showcase for National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Recordings." The exhibition systematically presents a decade's worth of achievements in the recording of national intangible cultural heritage representatives through two thematic sections titled "Endless Rivers" and "Lofty Mountains." This exhibition will be available until October 31.

The showcase month will adopt a hybrid approach, combining online and offline formats to present 44 outstanding summary films from the sixth batch of recordings. Documentation and preservation are vital foundational aspects of intangible cultural heritage protection. Since 2015, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has implemented the national-level representative recording project, during which it has supported the recording of 2,290 national-level intangible cultural heritage representatives over the past decade.

This event aims to highlight the achievements in China’s intangible cultural heritage protection efforts and share touching stories of national-level intangible cultural heritage representatives and documentarians, allowing the audience to experience the beauty of China’s exceptional traditional culture in an immersive manner.
