7th Xinjiang International Ethnic Dance Festival Begins

The 7th Xinjiang International Ethnic Dance Festival has commenced in Urumqi, bringing together diverse artistic performances and community activities under the theme "Let’s Dance Together."
On July 20, the 7th Xinjiang International Ethnic Dance Festival opened in Urumqi. Chen Xiaoliang, Secretary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony, along with Erliken Tuniyaz, Chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Gao Zheng, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, who also delivered speeches.
This year’s festival, themed "Let’s Dance Together," will last for 17 days. A total of 24 art troupes from both domestic and international backgrounds will present 52 exciting performances, featuring numerous forms of artistic expression including dance dramas, operas, musicals, ballet, and modern dance.
During the festival, a variety of ancillary activities will take place, such as the “Encounter with Art” master class, the “Endless Dance” dialogue and creator sharing session, a showcase of street dance on the Silk Road in 2025, community dance performances under the title “Dance of Our Village,” and the “Let’s Dance Together” International Dance Carnival, along with the "Silk Road Drama Week” showcasing traditional Chinese opera.
Urumqi will serve as the main venue for the festival, while sub-venues will be set up in Ili, Karamay, Hami, Aksu, Hotan, and Alar. This initiative aims to ensure that exceptional cultural resources reach local communities.
