A magnificent Emmenopterys henryi tree, over a thousand years old, located in Shiqian County of Guizhou Province, has recently reached its peak blooming period, captivating the attention of numerous nature lovers.
This remarkable tree is adorned with countless flowers, and its crown is a striking display of white and yellow funnel-shaped blossoms. The enlarged leaf-like calyx lobes add a beautiful gradient of color, transitioning from white and pale yellow to light red. Notably, this Emmenopterys henryi tree boasts impressive dimensions: it has a diameter at breast height of 1.51 meters, stands 20 meters tall, and has a crown width of 10.8 meters, making it the largest known example of its species in China.
Recognized as a national second-class key protected wild plant, the Emmenopterys henryi is famous for its spectacular flowers that bloom every two to four years, creating a fleeting yet stunning display that lasts for approximately 15 to 20 days.
Shiqian County's unique geographical location and favorable climatic conditions have led to a rich population of Emmenopterys henryi trees, earning it the title of 'the hometown of Emmenopterys henryi in China.' According to data, the area encompasses 927 square kilometers and hosts 267 ancient trees.
Among these, there are 2,796 specimens with a diameter at breast height exceeding 0.2 meters and an astonishing 61,596 trees measuring under 0.2 meters in diameter.
