Techo International Airport officially opened on September 9, 2025, signifying a significant milestone in Cambodia's aviation sector. Situated approximately 19 kilometers from downtown Phnom Penh in Kandal Province, the airport encompasses around 2,600 hectares.

The ambitious project was financed by Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd. and constructed by the China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd. (CCTEB), with construction commencing in January 2020 and completed over five years later.

As the largest steel-structure project in Cambodia, the airport is notable for its impressive steel roof, which measures 216 meters wide and 360 meters long. The dome components weigh over 11,000 tonnes, demonstrating advanced engineering techniques in its construction.

An important highlight of the Techo International Airport is its commitment to environmental sustainability. The energy center of the airport houses Cambodia's largest chiller system, supplemented by the installation of over 1,000 solar panels.

These solar panels are capable of generating up to 120 million kWh annually, contributing to a substantial reduction in carbon emissions, estimated at around 100,000 tonnes each year.

The welcoming of Techo International Airport is poised to ease the burden on Cambodia's current airport infrastructure, bolstering the nation's air transport capabilities.

Additionally, the airport is expected to act as a catalyst for tourism and economic development, enhancing Cambodia’s appeal as an international travel destination.
